Town Meeting Passes Municipal Wind Turbine Bylaw.

The 2009 Town Meeting results were definitely a mixed bag!

The zoning change to allow municipal wind turbines drafted by the planning board and some of the selectmen passed by a single vote.   The planning board aided the article's passage when it amended the proposed bylaw on the town meeting floor.  The amendment  removed Rock Harbor from the districts where turbines would be allowed. Rock Harbor residents had come out strongly opposed to the proposed bylaw.   The bylaw that was passed  allows municipal wind turbines only in Zone H.  This zone lies entirely within the national seashore. (See zoning map here)

The planning board was not  successful with their plans to change the zoning of the transfer station on Old Orchard Road to an industrial zone.  That proposal was soundly defeated.
